Do not take Lyrica capsule

• If you have severe kidney problems
• If you are suffering from depression
• If you are a drug addict or have history of drug abuse
• If you consume alcohol
• If you have heart problems

You must immediately stop taking Lyrica capsule and consult your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:

• Hypersensitivity reaction or any sort of allergic reaction of skin by using Lyrica capsule
• Swelling of face, neck, throat also called angioedema occur by use of Lyrica capsule
• If seizures become more frequent after using Lyrica capsule
• If you have suicidal thoughts after using Lyrica capsule

Children and adolescents

If you are less than 18 years of age then you must not take Lyrica capsule as the safety profile of Lyrica capsule is not been established in this age group.

Interaction of Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsule with other medicines

You must tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently been taken any of the following medicine:

Any medicine that causes sedation including opioids, pain killer such as oxycodone, lorazepam etc

Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsule with food and alcohol

Do not take Lyrica capsule with alcohol as it will potentiate dizziness, sleepiness and also decreases concentration.

Lyrica capsule can be taken with or without food.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or planning to have a baby or if you are a breastfeeding mother, you must consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Lyrica (pregabalin) capsule.

Effect of Lyrica capsule on your ability to drive or using machines

You may experience dizziness, sleepiness and reduced concentration; therefore, you must not drive or operate machinery if you are taking Lyrica capsule or unless you become aware that Lyrica capsule does not affect your consciousness.

How to take Lyrica (Pregabalin) Capsule?

You should take Lyrica capsule exactly the way your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

Method of administration:

Take Lyrica capsule orally with water without opening the contents of the capsule.

Dosage:

The recommended dose range of pregabalin is 150 mg to 600 mg per day in two to three divided doses.

The recommended starting dose for neuropathic pain, epilepsy and generalized anxiety disorder is 150mg but you can take a single capsule of 300mg twice a day if you are not feeling well after taking 150mg dose. The maximum dose is 600mg in 24 hours.

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you depending upon your health and underlying condition.

Continue the treatment with Lyrica capsule until your doctor asked you to stop after following dose tapering mechanism.

What if you take more Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsules than you should?

If you take an overdose of Lyrica capsule you might feel sleepy, confused, agitated and restless. Therefore you must immediately contact your doctor or visit the nearby health facility if you take more Lyrica capsule than you are prescribed.

What if you forget to take Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsule?

Always try to take your medicine on its right time. If you forget to take your scheduled dose of Lyrica capsule then take it as soon as you remember it until it’s time to take your next dose, if so then take your next dose at its right time but do not take a double dose to make up for your missed doe.

What if you want to stop taking Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsule?

You must follow the pattern of gradual dose reduction for at least one week, if you want to stop taking this medicine in order to avoid withdrawal effects of Lyrica capsule as it causes dependence.

The withdrawal effects of Lyrica capsule are: headache, nausea, anxiety, nervousness, depression, convulsion, diarrhoea, dizziness etc. If you will stop taking Lyrica capsule suddenly you will experience such effects.

Some of the common side effects of Lyrica capsule are: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, confusion, disorientation, tremor, weak memory, insomnia, fatigue, numbness, blurred or double vision, vertigo, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, muscle cramp etc.

How to store Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsule?

Lyrica (Pregabalin) capsule does not require any special condition of storage. Keep Lyrica capsule out of reach and sight of children.

Do not take Lyrica capsule after its expiry date mentioned on the pack and blister strip.
